Jahangard: Iran Plans to Raise Volume of Parcels' Delivery

TEHRAN Head of the Post, Telegraph and Telephone (PTT) Ministry Jahangard said here Wednesday that Iran plans to raise volume of parcels' delivery through structural and methodological reforms, managers' training and application of technology.
Jahangard told undersecretary general of the Universal Post Union (UPU) that to meet the goal, all means would be examined and the private sector would be engaged in the process of postal services development.
He said that to Iran is willing to benefit from assistance of the UPU in reforms in the postal services and training managers.
He added that Iran is ready in return to provide UPU with the country's postal services, including the transit and educational facilities.
In the process of reforms all dimensions including marketing, specialized training, manpower, new postal services and related issues should be taken into consideration, said the official.
Jahangard thanked UPU for publishing a stamp on dialog among civilizations and for arranging composition contest on the issue.
He said that Iran takes the issue of dialog among civilizations as a global need on the belief that if man does not choose the dialog alternative in an age, when telecommunications have removed distances, he would face a tough world.
The UPU official is here to attend the 8th Congress of the Asia-Pacific Post Union (September 12-19), where 26 countries have been represented.
